A Palm Beach County driveway paver repair that corrected extensive root intrusion while preserving and resetting the existing pavers.
The Problem
A large section of this residential paver driveway had shifted where roots from mature landscaping spread beneath the surface. The movement affected a broad area near the driveway edge and created an uneven field rather than one isolated loose paver. Most of the original concrete pavers were still usable, making a targeted lift-and-reset repair more appropriate than replacing the full driveway.
What We Found
After the affected pavers were lifted and organized for reuse, the opened area exposed an extensive network of roots throughout the bedding layer. The repair photograph makes the underlying cause clear: the pavers had not simply settled from ordinary wear. Root pressure had interrupted the uniform support below them, so the repair needed to address the obstruction before the surface could be reset successfully.
What We Did
Palm Beach Pavers worked in controlled sections, lifting and stacking the existing pavers so the original sizes, colors and pattern could be returned to the driveway. The root-affected area was cleared according to the repair scope, and loose or displaced bedding material was removed. We then restored the supporting layer and finished elevation before resetting the saved pavers, reconnecting the repaired section to the driveway edge, garage approach and undisturbed courses.
The Result
The completed driveway reads as one continuous surface again, with the original pavers aligned through the repaired area and the curved landscape border restored. Reusing the existing material preserved the driveway’s established blend of colors and helped the repair integrate naturally with the surrounding field. This project is a useful example of why diagnosing the cause matters: a surface-only adjustment would not have resolved the root interference visible underneath.
Materials / Repair Method
Serviceable concrete pavers were reused wherever practical. Prepared supporting material, bedding sand and fresh joint material completed the repair while retaining the existing driveway pattern and appearance.
